Walk to Work Week

Fancy getting fit?

Tired of battling the traffic and limited parking at your office?  Then why not take part in Walk to Work Week!

_DSC0329 [1]Walk to Work Week takes place from the 11th through 15th of May, coinciding with Green Office Week [2].  Part of National Walking Month, it is the idea of Living Streets, a charity to ‘stand up for pedestrians’.  Living Streets was founded in 1929 to help ensure that pedestrians have safe, enjoyable and attractive streets to walk on, and not just focus on the needs of car users.

Walk to Work Week is a great chance for you and your colleagues to get a bit fitter, save yourself money from petrol and wear-and-tear on your car, and save CO2 emissions.  Best of all, there are challenges you can take part in and compete with your friends and colleagues to help others.

You can sign up online at walktoworkweek.org.uk [3].  The Walk to Work Week website has loads of free resources to help you get out and walk.  Plus, you can log how much you’ve walked to try and beat last year’s total of 50,000 miles walked during the week.

Walking is an easy and free way to get fit and save money!  Not sure how to get to your work via the easiest route?  There’s a website and app for that, just visit walkit.com [4] .

Now, I’ll just go find my walking boots and get started…
