An equal world is an enabled world

“International Women’s Day celebrates the success of women across the world all of whom have a personal story. Many have overcome unsurmountable obstacles, repeated rejection and disappointment. Being judged for being too big, too small, too girly, too bossy, too nice, too different. Inclusive workplaces with gender balance are not just good for women they are good for everyone. The business case is solid. Inclusive workplaces are more innovative and able to adapt in a fast-paced constantly changing world of work. Everyone would rather work and live in an environment free from micro-aggressive behaviour where they can be themselves. When there is mutual respect for people, opinions and ideas, which might be very different from our own, extraordinary things can be achieved. This is not a women’s issue it’s an organisational issue. Collectively we can make our unconscious bias conscious and broaden our perspectives, we can create a gender-equal world. As an OSH professional, an OSH business owner and an IOSH Vice-President I will continue to promote respect and inclusion at the highest levels along with my team of incredibly strong women and our amazing clients.
